   Storage Decluttering

Declutter - sell quicker, and for a better price…

Selling your home can be a difficult and stressful task at the best of times. If your home isn’t looking it’s absolute best then it’s just going to get harder. However, this need not mean spending thousands of pounds improving your home in order to get the price your home deserves. By decluttering your home you can make your home more attractive to potential buyers as you create a more airy and clear feel. This is an inexpensive service which can not only help you sell your home quicker but also achieve a better selling price.

We offer a decluttering service from just £120 + vat. Included in this price is the loan of up to 40 boxes (10 large, 15 medium and 15 small) and collection of up to 250 cu ft of clutter from your home (up to 1st floor level) and delivery to our storage warehouse. We then store your goods for just £15 + vat per week per 250 cu ft, until you’re ready to move to your new home and have the goods delivered. We charge £120 + vat to deliver the content of a 250 cu ft storage unit to a local address (up to 1st floor level). In addition to this we can also dispose of unwanted items – just ask us for a quote.

We deliver the boxes for you to pack (we can also offer a packing service at     additional cost if required).
You sort through your belongings and pack them up ready for us to collect and
store or collect and dispose of.
We make a full inventory, we collect the goods and load into a 250 cu ft storage      container and return this to our storage warehouse. We can also drop items to
a local charity shop for you if you like (if you have items to dispose of we can do
this for you at additional cost).
You can now show your home off to it’s full potential and look forward to a
     quicker sale.

Tips on dealing with clutter…

Well, firstly we should decide what clutter really is. Clutter is that which we live with without it performing any meaningful purpose in our lives. It’s the items we no longer use due to a change in circumstances although we may feel in the back of our minds that it just may “come in useful one day”. Clutter is also those items we have the very best intentions of repairing or renovating but just never quite get around to doing. Clutter can also be your own personal collections, hobbies or gifts you’ve received over the years. The things we just can’t bear to part with but that which others (including home buyers) may find irrelevant or a waste of space.

Life moves quickly these days and items that we once thought were useful or even essential are now quickly outdated. However, because they were expensive, we just can’t bring ourselves to through them away. How many of us have a draw full of old mobile phones that we know we’ll never use. It’s fairly natural for us to hoard things and over the years these things can really build up. Experts advise that the average person uses 20% of their possessions 80% of the time. When you’re planning to sell your home clutter really is your enemy.

  1. Start now – call Rogers Removals and request your free boxes for you to begin the decluttering process. If you procrastinate you’ll never do it. By calling us now (yes, literally now!) on 0208 368 7779 or 0800 279 9043 you will have started the ball rolling. We’ll deliver the boxes and be back on a set day (usually after one week). You will now have to start dealing with it and you’ll be glad you did!

  2. Sort efficiently – pick a room at a time to declutter. Don’t move to the next room until the room you started in is completely finished otherwise you’ll be chasing your tail around and getting nowhere. Keep your momentum up, remember that you have a deadline to have everything ready by the time our crew arrive.

  3. Be ruthless – remember, you’re going to see the goods again when you move into your new home. Anything that you can do without should get boxed up ready for us to take away.

  4. Dispose of unwanted items - If you decide that some items need to be disposed of let us know now. We’ll give you a quote for this and make sure we come prepared when we collect the rest of the items. Now really is the best time to throw away that old sofa that’s seen better days.

When the decluttering process is completed and the goods have been removed you’ll feel great, we promise! Your home will now be more attractive to buyers which should lead to a quicker sale than would otherwise have been the case. You will also have peace of mind that your goods are securely stored (at a great rate!) and ready to be delivered after you move home.

We strongly recommend decluttering but you must call us now! 0208 368 7779 or 0800 279 9043.

Please read our 6 tips below for selling your home quickly and for a price you’ll be happy with.

  1. Declutter and depersonaliseClutter in a home is a real turn off to buyers. They find it hard to imagine living there while it’s full of your kid’s toys, collections and other personal items. Make it feel brighter and airier by clearing our all but the most essential items. Now is a great time to dispose of unwanted furniture (don’t wait until after you move to do this). Buyers can imagine their things in your home if it is clutter free. This process can also help to mentally prepare you for the move ahead.

  2. Finish off those outstanding DIY jobs - Your home need not look immaculate but buyers will appreciate you doing whatever you can to show the home off at it’s best. Get those half finished jobs completed and it could be financially rewarding for you too. The reason for this is that these outstanding items of repair can often be picked up on during a survey, the buyers can then use this as leverage to re-negotiate a lower purchase price. So, spending a little time dealing with these issues can lead to big savings.

  3. Keep it neutral and clean – If the décor is looking tired or is giving the home a darker feel consider getting the walls and ceilings freshened up (we can recommend good decorators if needed). Simply by painting the walls and ceilings white (or another neutral, light colour) you can really make the rooms in your home feel bigger and brighter. Floor coverings too should ideally be a neutral shade. It may not be your taste necessarily but it gives the potential buyers a blank canvass which is very attractive. It goes without saying that a home for sale must be 100% clean and tidy.

  4. Don’t market an empty house – While decluttering is essential you should never try and sell a home completely empty. It may sound silly but buyers respond better to homes if they can see how best to use each room and this is best demonstrated by having suitable furniture in each room. Again, keep it light, simple and clean for the best responses.

  5. Kerb appeal – Don’t neglect the front of your home. First impressions really count. Buyers often comment that the home they purchased “just felt right as soon as we arrived”. If the front of the home doesn’t look neat and presentable you won’t get them though the front door in a lot of cases and even if you do, you’ll already be off to a bad start. Also, do what you can to make the rear garden look great and of course, clutter free.

  6. Choose the right estate agent – Always use a reputable local estate agent to ensure you get the best price for your property. See our estate agents page to see the crème de la crème of North London’s finest agents. Using multiple agents does often cost you a bit more in fee’s but it will usually lead to a quicker sale so consider this is you really are in a hurry.
