Piano Removal FAQs

How much will it cost to move my piano?

The moving of pianos is a very specialised job, and the exact cost will vary case to case, depending on a number of factors. For example, if your piano is on the ground floor and you have wide hallways and doorways, it will be cheaper to move than if it’s located on the 2nd floor. If you would like an estimate, fill in our piano removal estimate form and we’ll email you a rough quote within 24 hours.

What happens if my piano is damaged during the move?

While we take every precaution to ensure that damage is avoided, it is still a possibility, and it’s better to play on the side of caution. As a registered removal company, all items are insured up to £50,000.00, however a lot of pianos will be worth more than that.

You can either arrange for an additional insurance plan through us, or you can arrange one yourself; it’s possible that you’ll be able to arrange it through your home insurance provider, which could make the process a little simpler than taking out a new policy.

How will you move the piano?

Exactly how the piano is moved depends on the situation. It will take a minimum of a team of 2 people, but could take more if it’s a more complex move. In addition to people, we use an assortment of specialised equipment, including trolleys. We’ve been moving pianos for over 40 years, and in that time, we have perfected our process and techniques.

Will my piano need retuning after the move?

While the physical act of moving the piano won’t mean that it goes out of tune, pianos are highly sensitive to environmental factors such as humidity and temperature. It’s recommended that you wait a few weeks after moving, long enough for the piano to settle, and then get it professionally tuned for the new room.

In which areas do you offer the piano removal service?

We operate in a wide area surrounding North London, but there are obviously limits to the locations we can cover. If you’re wondering if you’re in that area, you can quickly check if your postcode is included on our piano removal estimate page.

Do all removals companies offer a piano removals service?

Moving pianos in a safe manner is a highly specialised process, and it certainly isn’t a service which all removals companies can offer. If you’re considering using a company, be sure to check their reviews and track record before hiring their services. Some companies may offer the service, but not have the expertise and equipment to do so in a safe manner. The cost of hiring an experienced company will be very small in comparison to the overall value of the piano!

What kinds of pianos do you move?
